Where are my videos and photos stored?
If you use iCloud, your videos and photos are uploaded to your private iCloud storage by default. You can also choose to store your videos and photos only on the device on which they are captured, in which case they will not be available for remote viewing on your other devices.
On iOS, deleting the app will also delete any associated photos and videos stored on your device.
On a Mac, files associated with the app are stored in Library → Group Containers → group.co.superabundant.Watchful. You can access the Library directory from the Go menu in the Finder by holding down the Option key while the menu is open. It's not recommended to delete files from this directory, unless you want to delete the app and all its files from your computer.
How much iCloud storage will I need?
The amount of storage you will need to use Watchful with iCloud depends on the length of time you choose to store your videos and photos. You can configure the storage duration in the Settings screen on each of your devices, where you can also see an estimate of the amount of storage needed for that device with your current settings. If you need more iCloud storage, you can purchase it in the Settings app under Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Change Storage Plan.
Can I use Watchful if I don't use iCloud?
Yes, you can. In this case, your videos and photos will be stored only on the device on which they are captured, and you will not be able to view them remotely on your other devices.
How can I prevent unauthorized access to my device while Watchful is running?
You can enable Guided Access in the Settings app under Accessibility → Guided Access, and follow the instructions shown there while Watchful is running. This will prevent unauthorized individuals from exiting Watchful and changing settings in the app.
How can I delete all my data from Watchful in iCloud?
Open the Settings app on one of your devices that is signed in to your iCloud account. Navigate to Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Watchful, and tap on Delete Data.
How can I delete data from Watchful in iCloud for a specific device?
Tap the Settings icon in the main view of Watchful. Scroll down to the Devices section, select the device whose data you want to delete, and tap the Delete button.
What devices are compatible with Watchful?
Watchful runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 and higher and on Macs with macOS 14 and higher.
